Big Daddy Pollitt is dying of cancer, but he won’t admit it. His wife, Big Mama, won’t admit that Big Daddy never loved her. That sonofabitchofaGooper and His Wife Mae won’t admit that everybody hates them. And no one will admit that Brick — beloved youngest son, closeted alcoholic, and ex-football hero — is an actual brick. Only Brick’s wife, Maggie the Cat, seems to understand the reality of their situation.

They’ve all gathered to celebrate Big Daddy’s last birthday and stake their claim to the family plantation. Who will inherit the Richest Land on This Side of the Valley Nile? Will the truth come out? And how many kids do Mae and Gooper have anyway? When Big Daddy and Brick disappear, it’s up to Maggie and Big Mama to pick up the pieces and make sense of the madness.
